I will show you how to install skype in Linux Ubuntu 8.04.
First of All, make sure that you are connected to the trusted repository.
Mine was http://ftp.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp, you can pick the best repository that closest to you.
Don’t know where the best repository is?
You may use “synaptic sources” to help you finding the best repository. It can be accessed through System – Admnistration – Synaptic Sources
Make sure that you have no skype installed in your computer. If it is so, you have to uninstall it first
$ sudo apt-get remove skype
open the command line, type this
$ sudo apt-get install libqt4-core libqt4-gui libqtcore4 libqt4-network libqt4-script libqt4-xml libqt4-dbus libqt4-test libqt4-gui libqtgui4 libqt4-svg libqt4-opengl libqt4-designer libqt4-assistant libaudio2 qt4-qtconfig libqt4-qt3support libqt4-sql
$ sudo apt-get install skype
Problem With Audio Playback
When I wanna called my buddies, this message appeared
““Problem with Audio Playback“.”
This is problem with my microphone. so I tried this solution and it worked
Open your commmand line, and type this :
$ killall pulseaudio
$ sudo apt-get remove pulseaudio
$ sudo apt-get install esound
$ sudo rm /etc/X11/Xsession.d/70pulseaudio
Can’t hear your own voice?
In case that you cannot “speak” and only listening to your partner, perhaps the problem is you haven’t configure your microphone yet.
turn up the “mic boos” into 100 %. And now try to use skype once again, hope it works
